Code of Conduct

Shanti Memorial College of Education follows a comprehensive Code of Conduct to maintain discipline, professionalism, mutual respect, ethical behaviour, and a positive academic environment. The Code of Conduct applies to student-teachers, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and all members of the college community.

1. General Conduct

  • Maintain discipline, honesty, integrity, and professional behaviour within the college.
  • Treat all members of the institution with dignity, courtesy, and respect.
  • Follow institutional rules, regulations, notices, and instructions issued by the competent authorities.
  • Maintain a peaceful, inclusive, and academically supportive environment.

2. Code of Conduct for Student-Teachers

  • Attend classes, practical sessions, seminars, examinations, practice teaching, and school internship regularly and punctually.
  • Participate actively in academic and co-curricular activities.
  • Maintain proper discipline and professional behaviour during B.Ed. practice teaching and school internship.
  • Complete assignments, lesson plans, projects, practical work, and other academic requirements within the prescribed time.

3. Professional Conduct During School Internship

  • Respect the rules, policies, teachers, students, and staff of the internship school.
  • Maintain punctuality and professional discipline during school placement.
  • Prepare lesson plans properly and follow the guidance of school mentors and college supervisors.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school-related matters.

4. Code of Conduct for Faculty Members

  • Maintain professional integrity, impartiality, punctuality, and accountability.
  • Provide academic guidance and support to student-teachers without discrimination.
  • Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Encourage critical thinking, creativity, ethical behaviour, and inclusive learning.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and institutional information.
  • Continuously update professional knowledge and teaching practices.

5. Code of Conduct for Non-Teaching Staff

  • Perform assigned duties responsibly, efficiently, and courteously.
  • Maintain confidentiality of official records and institutional information.
  • Treat students, faculty members, visitors, and colleagues respectfully.
  • Maintain punctuality, discipline, and accountability in official responsibilities.
  • Properly maintain institutional records, equipment, and resources under their responsibility.

6. Anti-Ragging and Anti-Harassment

  • Ragging, bullying, intimidation, discrimination, harassment, and any form of misconduct are strictly prohibited.
  • The college promotes a safe and respectful environment for all student-teachers.
  • Any complaint or incident is dealt with according to applicable institutional rules and regulations.

7. Use of ICT and Social Media

  • Use computers, internet facilities, digital resources, and institutional communication platforms responsibly.
  • Do not misuse institutional digital resources or share confidential information without permission.
  • Maintain professional and respectful conduct on social media and online platforms.
  • Avoid posting or circulating content that may harm the dignity, privacy, or reputation of individuals or the institution.

8. Protection of College Property

  • Students and staff are expected to use classrooms, library resources, laboratories, ICT equipment, furniture, teaching aids, and other institutional facilities responsibly.
  • Any damage or misuse of institutional property may be subject to appropriate action.

9. Academic Integrity

  • Maintain honesty in assignments, examinations, projects, practical work, research, lesson plans, and other academic activities.
  • Properly acknowledge sources used in academic work.
  • Plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, cheating, and other academic misconduct are prohibited.

10. Environmental Responsibility

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene on the campus.
  • Avoid unnecessary wastage of water, electricity, paper, and other resources.
  • Support tree plantation, cleanliness drives, waste management, and other environmentally responsible initiatives.
